Reading Response

I am on page 153 of Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian but don't worry I won't spoil anyone. This book is something that I would have never chosen for myself but it is surprisingly not that bad. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian makes me feel bad for the main character Arnold because he has so much potential but not a good environment. One thing I noticed is how it is hard for me to relate to the main character since the point of view is from a teenage boy. I also noticed how this book has opened my eyes to see someone completely different from me's perspective.

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian is similar to Diary of a Wimpy Kid because of the cartoons and the point of view. Something that surprised me was how Arnold is the only person that is driven on the rez. All of the other kids do not care about their futures to try and change it. This is weird for me because I have been taught to get a good education, go to college, and find a steady job. It makes me happy though that Arnold has a drive to make his life change.

  1. I do think it is a good book and I defiantly would not of chosen it for myself. I like how you compared it to Diary of a Wimpy Kid. That is a comparison that I would not have thought of, but is really good.
