I just finished an Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian but don't worry because I won't spoil anything. One thing that I have noticed that is a huge part of this book is racism. Arnold finally gets to go to Reardan but he is ignored and made fun of by all of the white kids. Something that surprised me was that there was one nice person in Reardan and that is Gordy. I am happy that Arnold finally found Gordy who will treat him with respect.
As I was reading I have noticed a lot of determination in Arnold. Everyone on the reservation outcasted Arnold (except his family) but he still hasn't backed out of his decision. Arnold is the only one on the reservation that cares about his future which makes me so sad. Arnold believes in himself that he has to get out or he will die on the reservation. This is important because if he continues on the right path, he can be successful.
