Mardi Gras Break

I am going to Snowmass, Colorado for Mardi Gras break. I live Saturday morning at 11am. I won't be able to ski sadly because I broke my foot. Some of my friends will be there so we all get to hang out! I plan to shop in Aspen and go to stores like Lulu Lemon, Rag and Bone, and Free People. My sister won't be coming on this trip but I am happy to be able to have time to spend with my Parents.

While I am Snowmass, I also plan to dog sled. I have never been dog sledding but I am excited to see all of the cute dogs. I hope I can also go snowmobiling with my friends. I plan to meet up with everyone after they ski at lunch and at dinner. Even though there is not a lot of things I can do, I am still happy that I can get away from Baton Rouge.

Dreams Poem

I had a dream
where I could see
everything beneath me.
People scurried,
and tires screeched
causing my eyes to
be drawn to a commotion
that no one seemed to see.
I woke up suddenly,
realizing that the dream
was my reality and
I was the storm in the
middle of the sea.

Vocabulary Post

February is the month for Valentines Day. Everything can be seen in pinks and reds. Chocolates are cloying just like the couples are in every room. Valentines day is a sentimental day for all except if you're single, oops. People buy each other sweet valentine candies and cards.

Valentines Day is not only for couples but for the love of friends and families. Every year, my family and I have a Valentines Day dinner where we just get to spend time with each other. My mom always decorates the table and makes it garish. I love the decorations anyway though since it just makes the dinner sweet. I always look forward to this dinner because my family and I do not get to spend that much time together since we are always busy.

Research

When I first started researching my topic it was so difficult that I couldn't find any primary sources. Once I got the hang of it, I finally started finding important sources. One of my tips it to have a research question. This will help you narrow down what you are looking for. This skill helped me tremendously. Another skill that has helped me with my research is being able to make great notecards. If your notecards are great then your research paper will be great!

One thing that I struggled with is my transitions. Transitions are very important because it makes your paper flow. My paper is not that choppy but I know it could flow more. I feel as if some of my transitions are repetitive. I think one thing that will make it less repetitive is to be more creative with my transitions.

Reading Response

I just finished an Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian but don't worry because I won't spoil anything. One thing that I have noticed that is a huge part of this book is racism. Arnold finally gets to go to Reardan but he is ignored and made fun of by all of the white kids. Something that surprised me was that there was one nice person in Reardan and that is Gordy. I am happy that Arnold finally found Gordy who will treat him with respect.

As I was reading I have noticed a lot of determination in Arnold. Everyone on the reservation outcasted Arnold (except his family) but he still hasn't backed out of his decision. Arnold is the only one on the reservation that cares about his future which makes me so sad. Arnold believes in himself that he has to get out or he will die on the reservation. This is important because if he continues on the right path, he can be successful.
