MP-My Obsession with Yogurt Mountain

Free Post

Last weekend was a busy weekend which consisted of dancing, cotillion, and my sister's deb ball. Friday after school, I got my nails done then went home to pack for the hotel and my friend's house. I needed to pack for the hotel because that is where my family and my sister's friends were getting ready for the ball. I then packed for my friend's house because I was spending the night at her house after snowball. I was excited about this weekend and couldn't wait to have so much fun at these dances.

Saturday morning at 8am, I woke up to get ready for dance. Dance was great even though it started early in the morning and I left at 12:30 to go get ready at the hotel. I got my makeup done and got dressed in my floor length dress and headed to the river center. I saw my sister be presented then headed to another ball room to go to cotillion. Snowball was so much because I got to sing and dance with my friends. This weekend was a blast and I can not wait for this weekend which is Sadies!

Reading Response

I am on page 153 of Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian but don't worry I won't spoil anyone. This book is something that I would have never chosen for myself but it is surprisingly not that bad. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian makes me feel bad for the main character Arnold because he has so much potential but not a good environment. One thing I noticed is how it is hard for me to relate to the main character since the point of view is from a teenage boy. I also noticed how this book has opened my eyes to see someone completely different from me's perspective.

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian is similar to Diary of a Wimpy Kid because of the cartoons and the point of view. Something that surprised me was how Arnold is the only person that is driven on the rez. All of the other kids do not care about their futures to try and change it. This is weird for me because I have been taught to get a good education, go to college, and find a steady job. It makes me happy though that Arnold has a drive to make his life change.

Anna-Last Semester I learned about Time Management

Sydney-Time Management

Dance and King Louis XIV

In what important ways did King Louis XIV of France support dance during his reign? How did this support lead to the development of ballet? My topic for my research paper is Dance History in France. Some people might think this is boring but it is actually very interesting. Did you know that King Louis XIV danced in his own court and also helped funded dance? He loved ballet and loved to perform.

King Louis XIV helped created The Royal Academy of Dance and The Royal Academy of Music. The Royal Academy of Dance was a place where adults could learn proper technique to be able to perform in lavish productions. The Royal Academy of Music, also known as the Opera, was led by King Louis XIV's composer Jean Baptiste Lully. Jean Baptiste composed many productions that included dance, music, and theatre. King Louis XIV also had a personal dance teacher to help him with his technique.

What I learned Last Semester

I have learned many things about myself last semester but the thing that stands out to me the most is how I do not have a lot of time to do school work. I have learned that I need to use my time wisely. I try to always use my study hall and tutorials well so I do not have that much homework. I am a huge procrastinator but I force myself to put my phone away and work. Procrastination is a very hard thing to overcome but I've learned when I get in the zone I can knock anything off my homework list.

Whenever I get home I usually have an hour or less to complete homework before I get back from dance at 10pm. I try to complete whatever I can so I am not up late. This process is sometimes hard because I do not want to do anything when I come home from school but I do it anyways. I am usually up late anyways completing any last minute work or trying to work ahead. The result from all of this causes me to be exhausted all the time but I get used to it after a while.

Free Post-Winter Break

My winter break was fun and relaxing. I went to Oklahoma to see my family and my sister. I also got to see my little cousin Levi who is two. He is so happy and funny! Levi could not stop singing kumbayah, it was hilarious. All of my family ate my Aunt's treats that she bakes every year which we love.

Over my winter break I also hung out with my friends in Baton Rouge. We watched Christmas movies together and made gingerbread houses. We also took tons of naps and slept in. We exchanged funny Christmas gifts together like One Direction toothbrushes. This winter break was great and I wish I could go back to such a relaxing time.

Research Update

My research has been going pretty well. My annotated bibliography wasn't that hard but my notecards have been difficult. For my annotated bib, I found a lot of information to back up my ideas but for my notecards it's like there is nothing there. My three primary sources are where I get most of my information. I need help with finding information that will answer my research question.

I have spent a lot of time looking on my sources but it is like there is nothing for my notecards. It was easy to find a research question but it is hard to find information to back it up. I also need help with making sure my notecards are correct. I think my research paper will be good but there is just more information that I need to find.
